We were so happy to be featured recently by Brides of Long Island, who invited me to talk about what couples can expect when hiring a wedding officiant – and, maybe more importantly, what goes into creating a ceremony that actually feels like them.

Because that’s always been the heart of what we do at Long Island Wedding Officiants.

Every couple comes to us with a different story, different traditions, different personalities, and a different idea of what they want their wedding ceremony to feel like. Some want something romantic and heartfelt. Some want to laugh. Some want to honor faith or family traditions. Many want a little bit of everything. Our job is to listen, get to know you, and help bring all of those pieces together.

As I told Brides of Long Island, “I’m not looking for perfection. I want it to be human.”

And I really mean that.

The beautiful moments in a ceremony aren’t always the perfectly scripted ones. They’re often the little looks, the laughter, the shaky voices, the unexpected tears, and all of those wonderfully human moments that happen when two people stand in front of the people they love and say, this is the person I’ve chosen.

Of course, there’s quite a bit happening behind the scenes too. We’re working with your venue and other wedding professionals, helping everyone know where they need to be, calming nerves, handling the legal details, and making sure the ceremony we’ve created together unfolds as naturally as possible.

But you shouldn’t have to think about any of that…You should just get to be there.

We’re grateful to Brides of Long Island for giving us the opportunity to talk about the work we love and to share a little of what we’ve learned from more than a thousand ceremonies.

And if you’re beginning to imagine your own ceremony, we’d love to hear your story and help you create yours.
